About Katie

Who am I as a therapist?

Over the past 19 years, I have been working both in the UK and Canada in the area of family and children’s services, where I have had the privilege of building trusting relationships and working collaboratively with individuals and families. In this role, I have gained significant experience in supporting clients struggling with anxiety, emotional regulation, depression, anger, attachment disruption, trauma and family related difficulties. I have had the opportunity to engage with them in supportive counselling and advocacy, along with evidence-based therapeutic approaches, which have included mindfulness techniques and solution-focused brief therapy, all while focusing on family and individual strengths and resourcefulness.

I truly believe that life is precious and my focus, while working from a strength-based and trauma-informed perspective, has been to increase family and individual functioning, despite the challenges that life brings.  Most recently, I’ve added EMDR training to my therapeutic approach.

I understand how scary it can be to take the first step and reach out for help.  My goal is to provide a calm and safe space where I can really get to know you.  My approach is supportive and non-judgemental.  I will meet you where you are at with your goals. My hope is that we can work together as you navigate your personal growth and achieve a greater sense of peace and well-being.

Who am I as a person?

In my free time, you will usually find me enjoying time with family and friends.  I’m a proud mom of one son, who is a very active and passionate soccer player. I love being present at his practices and games, cheering him and his team on. My pup, Luna, is also very lively and helps me get out on regular walks, hikes and socializing with other dogs and dog lovers around my neighbourhood and at the local dog park. As much as I enjoy being active, I equally love my downtime — reading, watching a good movie or sitting down to a marathon family game of Monopoly.
