Why work intensively?
Three words: Effective. Efficient. Economical.
Effective:
EMDR has been researched over the last 30 years and it’s effectiveness has been proven in treating not only PTSD, but many other concerns. You can read more here and here and here.
Efficient:
Commitment to weekly therapy is exactly that – a commitment. And while this works well for lots of people and has it’s benefits, sometimes we just don’t have the time! Intensive sessions provide a concentrated amount of time to work through the targets/issues that you need to work through.
Economical:
Quite simply, intensives allow for by-passing time spent on checking in on happenings since the last session and navigating current crises and concerns. Not to mention, we spend less time on stabilization and closure of sessions because we’re getting to the trauma and giving it the time it needs to be processed and healed. Read more here.
Who could benefit from an EMDR Intensive?
- A current client who needs extra, focused support quickly.
- Someone who is busy and doesn’t have time for weekly sessions.
- Someone who needs help – a lot of it – and right now, and doesn’t want to spend months in weekly therapy before you feel better.
- Someone who has been working successfully with a primary therapist but has identified a specific issue that could be treated with EMDR therapy.

What to expect
The intake session allows an opportunity for us to get to know each other. During this time together, I will ask you questions about your history, what issues you are hoping to work on and we will begin the treatment planning process. You will also receive your customized Intensive Workbook at this session.
The intensive session is where the healing happens! We will work on reprocessing memories/targets and resourcing during this time. You can read more about the 8 phases of EMDR therapy here.
The follow-up session is a chance for us to check in and reflect on the work you completed. We can discuss any concerns or next steps during this time.
